Anja Bruggemann

As the Greater Columbus Arts Council’s receptionist, Anja takes care of general everyday administrative duties in the office. She assists visitors, directs phone inquiries, updates databases, orders office materials, distributes correspondence, and supports all other staff members with individual projects.

For over half her life, Anja has lived and traveled in foreign countries, where she speaks her native German language, English and French. In London, she received a Bachelor of Arts in fine art from Middlesex University as well as a Master of Arts in fine art printmaking from Camberwell College of Arts. In 1998, she moved to the United States, where she completed a Master of Art in art (mixed media) at Marshall University, then earned a Master of Fine Art in printmaking from The Ohio State University. Since 1997, she has taught groups of pre-art, non-art and senior art students in studio classes, advanced seminars, as well as large lecture courses at Anglia Ruskin University Cambridge, Marshall University and The Ohio State University.

Anja also holds temporary positions in different departments at the Wexner Center for the Arts: one in ehibitions, another in patron services, and a third in education. As a member of the exhibition design team, she has crated, built, and installed every exhibition for the past three years and, in the process, interacted with many artists, curators, couriers and collectors. Additionally, as part of the house-management team, she provides assistance to patrons attending the center’s multidisciplinary events. She also gives interactive exhibition tours and educational workshops for people of all ages. Formerly, she was the director of the Birke Art Gallery at Marshall University.

Anja makes and thinks about artwork every day and has exhibited her work internationally. She is the recipient of various awards, including last year’s Individual Creativity Excellence Award from the Ohio Arts Council.
