Marketing & Communications Director

emily swartzlander As Marketing and Communications Director, Emily is responsible for promoting GCAC's programs, events and services and encouraging arts appreciation and participation through marketing and communications initiatives. Emily oversees all internal and external communication materials, manages media relations and Web site development for www.gcac.org and www.ColumbusArts.com and coordinates the Business Arts Partnership Program. She also serves as GCAC's liaison with Experience Columbus, the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce and the Columbus Arts Marketing Association.

Prior to joining GCAC, Swartzlander was the Manager of Marketing and Special Events at Thurber House, a Columbus literary arts center located in the former home of author and humorist James Thurber. Swartzlander worked previously as a reporter and editor for The Associated Press. She has a Master's degree in Business Administration from the Ohio State University and a Bachelor of Science in journalism from Ohio University. In 2007, Swartzlander was chosen as a board member for Create Columbus, a commission formed by Mayor Michael Coleman to address issues related to area young professionals. She is the Arts and Culture Committee chair for that commission and serves as a volunteer for the Columbus Metropolitan Club's CMC PM planning committee.
