Columbus Gets Greater with Innovation

Columbus truly has it all – a bustling arts scene, successful businesses and a strong sense of community. The spirit of innovation is alive as well in Columbus.  And the media—nationally and locally—is taking notice.

Our beautiful city was ranked number one on Forbe’s List of American Opportunity Cities.

Forbe’s “Upstart 100” list also features three entrepreneurs from Columbus.  Creative entrepreneur and Greater Columbus Board of Trustees member Tanisha Robinson made this list.  Her business Print Syndicate, which she co-founded with Mike Limes, is a technology, design and marketing company that sells products with designs that are inspired and supported by the creativity talent we have in Columbus.

Columbus Monthly’s cover story for February features visionaries from Columbus and their ideas on the future design of the city.  Michael Bongiorno, director and designer for DesignGroup and Arts Council Board of Trustees member, weighed in with his ideas on the designs for the city.

Alex Bandar, founder and CEO of the Columbus Idea Foundry was featured as well.  Alex was the Arts Council’s Emerging Arts Leader in 2011 and has made a significant impact in the Columbus arts community through his work with the Columbus Idea Foundry.

Other visionaries of the arts scene recognized by Columbus Monthly were Cindy Foley, director of Learning and Experience and founder of the Center for Creativity at the Columbus Museum of Art and winner of the Arts Council’s 2012 Arts Educator Award, and Steven Anderson, producing director at CATCO championing the idea for more smaller-scale theaters and venues in central Ohio.

These individuals and many others in our arts community will continue to help this city flourish with an abundance of creativity and innovation.  I think we can look forward to seeing Columbus’ creative talent continue to make headlines for years to come.
