Arts Education Programs & Services for Educators

Artists help kids see the world around them in a whole new way. By offering services to professional educators and artists, and by connecting local artists with schools and community groups, the Greater Columbus Arts Council helps to enrich the lives of central Ohio's children.

Our Community Arts Education Program has four main components:

Artists-in-Schools

Artists-in-Schools links professional artists and arts groups not only with K-12 schools, but also parks and recreation centers, senior facilities, correctional facilities, hospitals, libraries, other community centers, as well as private sector businesses, organizations and individuals. More than 100,000 people each year are exposed to the arts through an Artists-in-Schools program.

Children of the Future

Since its inception in 1995, Children of the Future has provided fun, safe, and educational arts activities for over 15,000 Columbus children ages 5-14. The after-school and summer programming is free and available to children at inner-city schools, recreation and community centers. The Community Arts Education staff coordinates Children of the Future in cooperation with a multitude of program partners, including the Columbus Public Schools and The Martin Luther King, Jr. Performing and Cultural Arts Complex.

ARTS CLASSifieds

ARTS CLASSifieds is a comprehensive, searchable online directory of arts classes and educational programs offered throughout Franklin County.

Professional Development in Arts Integration

The Professional Development In Arts Integration program, a Columbus Public Schools project conducted with local partners GCAC, BalletMet Columbus, Opera Columbus and the Jazz Arts Group, is a national model for professional development for educators and teaching artists.
