Looking for something to do before or after you visit the Columbus Arts Festival? Here's a list of events in the Discovery District that week:
Fri., Jun. 6 and Sat., Jun. 7
5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.:The BalletMet Dance Academy, among the nation’s top five dance-training centers affiliated with a professional company, closes its school year with its performance, The Classroom and Beyond 2008. Performances take place at the Capitol Theatre, 77 S. High St. Tickets to the show, available at the door or in advance at 614-224-1672, are $14 for one performance, or $25 for a multiple performance pass. Registration for summer classes at the Academy, which will be held July 7-31, will be offered at the performances.
Sat., Jun. 7
11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Game on - Read! Stop by Columbus Metropolitan Library's Summer Reading Club Kickoff Party. Music, refreshments, and entertaining performers will all be part of the fun. CML's Summer Reading Club is the largest in the country, allowing kids to have fun and win prizes while keeping up with their reading skills over the summer. The Columbus Museum of Art is FREE for everyone and open extended hours throughout the Festival. Palette Cafe is serving lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Ask about their new self-guided tours - What Not To Wear, Some Like it Hot, and Dysfunctional Family.

Sat., Jun. 7
11:30 a.m.: Artist Aminah Robinson will read from her book To Be A Drum.
12-3 p.m.: Discover the Art Tours: A 20 minute tour of CMA's collection leaves every half hour from the CMA lobby.
2 p.m. and 4 p.m.: A performance by Fort Hayes Student Musicians.
9 p.m. to midnight: Join Art netWork, CMA's young professional group, for a Summer Garden Party with food, music and mingling in the sculpture garden. Admission is $5 at the door.
Fri., Jun. 6
6-8 p.m.: Jazz music by the Sun Kings Steel Drum Trio & Gene Walker.
5-9 p.m.: PromoWest Productions on site. Stop by for a chance to win great prizes and register to win tickets for 311, Snoop Dogg or Umphrey's McGee.
6 p.m.: Hor D'oeuvres by AVI.
Sat., Jun. 7
12-1 p.m.: Vocal performance by the Chorus Columbus State.

First Congregational Church, located at 444 E. Broad St., is hosting daily events throughout the Festival, including a daily liturgical art exhibit, a daily Chair-A-Tea event, daily arts and history docent tours at 2:45 p.m. and 5:45 p.m., with a 3:15 p.m. tour on Sun., Jun. 8. Additionally, the church will have special events each day.
Enjoy a variety of food, art, music and activities from around the world at a Taste of Soul at the King Arts Complex from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day.
The Topiary Park will offer special docent-led tours on Sat., Jun. 7 and Sun., Jun. 8 at 3 p.m. Tours will begin at the gatehouse and will last approximately 30 minutes. Self-guided tour and tree-walk information and will be available in the visitors' center and on the Web site, www.topiarygarden.org.
Thurber House will open from noon to 6 p.m. on Fri., Jun. 6 and Sat., Jun. 7 and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sun., Jun. 8. Stop by for a tour of author James Thurber's home, browse the bookstore and enter a daily drawing for a pair of tickets to a Thurber House Literary Picnics event.
