FREE EVENT HIGHLIGHTS GREATER COLUMBUS ARTS COUNCIL’S ARTISTS-IN-SCHOOLS PROGRAM

Columbus, Ohio –Join the Greater Columbus Arts Council at the and learn more about arts education opportunities for central Ohio classrooms. This year’s Artist Preview Night will take place from 4:00-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 14 at Arts IMPACT Middle School, 680 Jack Gibbs Blvd.

More than 65 artists, all of whom are participants in GCAC’s Artists-in-Schools program, will showcase their talent at this annual, free event. GCAC’s Artists-in-Schools links professional artists and arts groups with K-12 schools and community groups, as well as private sector businesses, organizations and individuals. Artist services include performances, lectures, workshops, master classes, readings and multi-disciplinary experiences. Artists-in-Schools receives financial assistance from the Franklin County Board of Commissioners.

Artists-in-Schools is a component of GCAC’s Community Arts Education Program. As one of GCAC’s longest running programs, Artists-in-Schools has brought hundreds of thousands of central Ohio residents in contact with professional teaching artists. Professional artists are available in the following disciplines to complement and enhance arts education programs: Dance and Movement Arts; Literary Arts; Multi-disciplinary Arts; Music; Theatre and Visual Arts.

The event will also include free grant workshops at 4:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to help teachers and other school personnel learn more about GCAC’s Franklin County Neighborhood Arts grants in support of special community arts projects.
