Columbus, Ohio – Columbus, Ohio – The Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC) and the Columbus Museum of Art (CMA) encourage and support cultural development in the Columbus area. In this capacity, GCAC and CMA have partnered to present the 2010 Individual Artists Fellowship Program. As part of this exciting partnership, the Columbus Museum of Art will host an exhibition in 2011 of the 2010 Individual Artists Fellowship recipients and Dresden residency winners.
The Individual Artist Fellowship program provides unrestricted grants to artists of outstanding talent and ability who currently live in the City of Columbus and/or Franklin County, and have done so for at least one year.
Established in 1986 to recognize outstanding local artists, more than 140 awards have been given in a variety of disciplines including visual arts; crafts; film and video; creative writing; music composition; and choreography/movement arts have been made. These awards, based on the quality of work previously created, assist artists in the creation of new work and the advancement of their careers. Through the recognition of this artistic enterprise, the Columbus area remains a vital place where artists can live and work. The GCAC program is one of the few local fellowship programs in the country.
Applicants who make it to the final round of consideration for the Individual Artists Fellowships will be eligible to apply for the Dresden/Saxony Residency, a two to three month residency in Dresden, Germany.
Winners of the 2010 visual arts fellowship and Dresden Residency will be featured in an exhibition at the Columbus Museum of Art in February 2011.
The online application will open in GoArts, GCAC’s online application system, on June 1. The deadline for 2010 is July 30, 5:00 p.m. Winners will be announced by the end of August.
