Greater Columbus Arts Council Awards Third Quarter Project Support and Community Impact Grants

COLUMBUS, Ohio—The Greater Columbus Arts Council Board of Trustees approved eight grants totaling $23,898 for the third round of Project Support grants in 2015. Additionally the Board approved one Community Impact grant totaling $7,500.

Various performances will occur throughout Columbus featuring organizations such as The Center for Ongoing Research & Projects whose Artist Project Series will focus on film, photography and architecture opening Oct. 23-24, 2015 at the COR&P Gallery and Retail space located at 996B West 3rd Ave. Red Herring Productions will present the Columbus premiere of Edward Albee’s Tony Award winning black, sardonic, tragicomedy “The Goat, or Who is Sylvia” at the Vern Riffe Center from Oct. 1-10, 2015 and The Fuse Factory Electronic and Digital Arts Lab will present Frequency Fridays, a monthly performance and exhibition series featuring visual and sound artists, electronic and experimental musicians and technologists whose experimental work with diverse media investigates the migration of computing out of the desktop PC and into the physical world at ItLooksLikeItsOpen Oct. 2, 2015 through June 3, 2016.

Project Support: Project Support grants provide funding for the numerous short-term cultural activities that give Columbus its vitality. This quarterly cycle, grantees will serve more than 10,000 audience members and will support approximately 300 artists. The Arts Council awarded $23,898 in Project Support grants to the following organizations and projects:

Community Impact: Community Impact grants provide funding to support long-term, sustainable projects or activity by arts and culture organizations and/or non-traditional arts and culture organizations that are intended to affect the economic development and growth in the targeted geographic areas.
