One night, the bulletin board on the wall above Stanley’s bed comes loose and falls – right on top of Stanley! The next morning, Stanley Lambchop wakes up flat. Not just a little flat… really, REALLY flat! In a whirlwind musical travelogue, Stanley – the ultimate exchange student – scours the globe for a solution to his unusual problem. He’s stamped, posted, and cancelled from Hollywood to France to Honolulu and beyond. And whether he’s thwarting a robbery at the Louvre Museum in Paris, or “hanging ten” off the coast of Hawaii, Stanley is closing in on his goal of being a three-dimensional boy once more.

Sunset Boulevard
Presented by Short North Stage
Venue: Garden Theater

October 2nd – October 19th
Friday and Saturday 8 – 10:30 PM
Sunday Matinee 3 – 5:30 PM
$25.00 – $40.00

Sunset Boulevard, a haunting musical allegory for life in Hollywood, is a rarely-produced Broadway masterpiece with a lush melodic score by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Based on the classic Billy Wilder 1950 film, it won seven Tony Awards on Broadway in 1995, including Best Musical, Best Book, Best Score and Best Actress. Sunset Boulevard weaves a magnificent tale of faded glory and unfulfilled ambition. Norma Desmond longs for a return to the big screen, having been discarded by tinsel town with the advent of ‘talkies.’ Her glamour has faded in all but her mind. When she meets struggling Hollywood screen-writer Joe Gillis in dramatic circumstances, their subsequent passionate and volatile relationship leads to an unforeseen and tragic conclusion. Famous for such lines as “I’m ready for my close-up, Mr. DeMille” and “I am big-it’s the pictures that got small”, Sunset Boulevard is a spell-binding fable of dreams along the street where movies were born.
