Donte Woods-Spikes

Donte Woods-Spikes is a documentarian and professional speaker, appearing at TEDxColumbus, Pecha Kucha Columbus, Ohio Arts Council Conference, National Charter School Conference, GDEX and Collegiate Leadership Conference of Ohio. He is recognized as an established storyteller by the Greater Columbus Arts Council’s Columbus Makes Art campaign.

As a Matter of Black dives into behind the scenes of protest and art taking place during the global pandemic.

In 2020, Columbus, Ohio joined in solidarity with the nation for a global demonstration against injustices. The documentary As a Matter of Black displays how some of Columbus’ most know artists and activists work to spread awareness and healing.

Adrienne Hood became an activist after her son was killed in a highly controversial shooting with Columbus Police. After seeing the healing capabilities of master artist (Richard “Duarte” Brown, Adrienne and Duarte hosted a private night of healing through art for families grieving the loss of their loved ones. Ohio State University graduate Francesca Miller shares about her contribution of murals to the #artunitescbus campaign while activist Stacey Little speaks on the removal of the Christopher Columbus statues.
