“I like large parties. They’re so intimate. At small parties there isn’t any privacy.” ― F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby

The best parties are the ones that refuse to be contained to a single room, building or yard. I love a party that spills into parking lots and down blocks and even closes off streets just for my enjoyment.
This is a great weekend for me.
Let’s start with Urban Scrawl because I’ve been looking forward to this all summer. For me the pure joy of this event is watching talented artists create spellbinding murals, knowing all the while that these works of art will become a part of the fabric of our city. Everything about that is full of awesome.
Throw in food trucks, music, dance and much, much more and Urban Scrawl is, for me, one of the best events of the summer. It’s happening this Saturday & Sunday in Franklinton.
Per usual, Cbus is host to many great events. One of which is the Columbus Young Professionals 10-year anniversary block party in Grandview this Saturday. They’re taking over Grandview Avenue and hosting a major party with bands and food trucks. Of course, after 10 years, it may take them a little longer to bounce back the next day.
If two big parties isn’t enough for you, here are a few more options to add to your social calendar.
Ballet Met is performing as part of the Rhythm on the River series at Bicentennial Park this Friday.
Last week while wandering the Pearl Market (I love working downtown) I was lucky enough to hear Joey Hebdo play. Now you’re lucky, because he’s playing at Natalie’s this Saturday and Sunday.
I’ve also got some last calls to bring to your attention: Then and Now at Clayspace’s Gallery 831 closes Aug. 28; No Explanation Needed at the Cultural Arts Center closes Aug. 29; Sharon Meyer: Seriously Fun at Sherrie Gallery closes Aug. 30; Somewhere in Time at Studios on High Gallery closes Aug. 31 and the gorgeous Summer 2015 Group Exhibition at Angela Meleca closes Sept. 3.
Hope to see you out and about via #artmakescbus!
