Weekend Warriors: The “SQUIRREL!” Approach to Finding Stuff To Do

I’m easily distracted. And today as I search through the many options of fun stuff to do, I’m jumping from one shiny object to the next. For the purpose of this blog, however, I’m forcing myself to pick the 10 things that grab my attention first—although I’d need a TARDIS to manage them all (If you don’t get my gratuitous geek reference, don’t worry about it. If you do, HIYA!).

  1. Film Festival of Columbus (FFCOL):  I’m only counting this as one, although it’s actually a full week of events. Saturday looks particularly good with a filmmakers panel and an afterparty. I love an afterparty.
  2. The Columbus Food Truck Festival: I believe I’ve mentioned that I’m a foodie. So pop me in a park full of food trucks and live music, and I’m a happy, happy camper.
  3. The Last Night of Disco: This sounds so fun! I’m fascinated by the whole history of Studio 54 and, HELLO, this show is interactive—they want you to get up and get your hustle on.
  4. Wex Drive-In featuring Cry Baby: This is probably my favorite John Waters movie, and yes I saw it in the theater when it originally aired. When Wex first announced their drive-in line up this is the movie my friends were excited about, but I was all like “but it’s in AUGUST” because that seemed like forever away, but now it’s here and … wait what was I talking about?

    Monty Python and the Holy Grail at COSI: Need I say more?

  6. Homemade Burrata Cheese at Franklin Park Conservatory: I’ve been stalking FPC’s cooking classes online but haven’t had a chance to try one. This looks interesting. I’ve never made cheese before. Did I mention I’m a foodie?
  7. Mojo Flo at Natalie’s Coal-Fired Pizza: It’s MOJO FLO! What more do you need?
  8. North Market 24th Annual Farmers Festival: it’s like a farmers market on steroids.
  9. The Work of Christopher Tennant at Vanderelli Room: I’m not going to lie, this one caught my eye because of the image with the event description. Now I’m fascinated.
  10. See You Thursday Improve Comedy at Wild Goose Creative: I’m reading Amy Poehler’s Yes Please!, which has me obsessed with improve, so it’s little wonder that this stood out.
