The Columbus Film Council and The Columbus Free Press present:

A Columbus International Film + Video Festival Early Bird Screening Event
La Camioneta: The Journey of One American School Bus

72 minutes
Mark Kendall

Every day dozens of decommissioned school buses leave the United States on a southward migration that carries them to Guatemala, where they are repaired, repainted, and resurrected as the brightly-colored camionetas that bring the vast majority of Guatemalans to work each day.

Since 2006, nearly 1,000 camioneta drivers and fare-collectors have been murdered for either refusing or being unable to pay the extortion money demanded by local Guatemalan gangs. This film follows one such bus on its transformative journey: a journey between North and South, between life and death, and through an unfolding collection of moments, people, and places that serve to quietly remind us of the interconnected worlds in which we live.

Venue: Live Happier Loft

October 28th
7:00 PM – 8:30 PM

Meditation and mindfulness have been proven to help us reduce anxiety and Live Happier. AND sometimes it is just hard to sit still long enough to meditate. The Hour of Happy Minds provides a way to EASE yourself in to the practice of mindfulness. 30 minutes of a silent mindfulness activity (labyrinth tracing, coloring mandalas, playing with zen gardens or using glitter jars) followed by group discussion on the joys and challenges of the process.

Trust me…meditating is hard for me too–but I have found this 30 minute practice to be life changing!
