Ever have one of those awesome weekends where everything just falls into place? That was me last weekend, and now I’m a little worried that I’ve set the bar too high. This is my birthday week, will it be as amazing as last week?
If it isn’t it will all be on me because Cbus has more than enough going on to help me celebrate in style, and it looks like Mother Nature might be giving me a lovely b-day gift.
As I hit publish on this post, I’m thinking about the lovely picnic I packed for tonight’s Literary Picnic at Thurber House. Poet Maggie Smith will be reading. I’m not going to lie, I don’t read much poetry. It’s not my go-to escapism kind of fare. I do, however, enjoy listening to it. There’s something the writer brings to the experience that I prefer to simply reading it on my own.
Also, hello perfect weather! There’s sun in the forecast (remember the sun?) and it’s not too hot. Looks like we are about to have a couple of perfect nights for outdoor fun—seize it while you can. Tonight will also be a fantastic night to be at the LC with Wiz Khalifa and Fall out Boy.
Thursday, I’ll be kicking out of work early and heading over to Evolved Body Art to indulge in a new locally designed tattoo (my present to myself). After that I’m headed to Schiller Park with my besties and my picnic basket repacked for Actor Theater Columbus’ production of Richard III.
But that’s not the only outdoor option dearies. Angela Perley & the Howlin’ Moons are playing at Columbus Commons. I did last week’s common’s concert and LOVED it. A summer night out with friends, food trucks, and good music—it doesn’t get much better. But wait, there’s more. The Wexner Center has their next drive-in installment with Touch of Evil.
At the moment, Friday isn’t looking too bad either, so it might be a good day to head to the Pearl Market. Summer produce offerings are looking good, and the mix of art vendors means great lunchtime shopping.
Friday is also the start of the Jazz & Rib Fest—the name says it all right?!
Saturday might be a day where AC starts to be welcome. The Summer Movie Series at the Ohio Theater is still going strong and this weekend has a suspense double feature with The Killers and Spiral Staircase.
Another option for cooling off: exhibitions. The Columbus Museum of Art and The Wexner Center for the Arts each have multiple shows going on right now—more bang for your admission buck.
Sunday for me includes a birthday brunch with a parental unit. I’m thinking of taking her to the North Market Flea afterward to go treasure hunting.
I’ll be tagging my b-day celebrations #artmakescbus. Celebrate with me by tagging your weekend fun.
Mother nature has not been kind to us this summer, so when she’s in a good mood you’ve got to take advantage.
