Artist Information

Laura Alexander received a MFA in Fibers from the University of Washington, Seattle and a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. She has shown her work nationally in venues such as the Henry Art Gallery (Seattle), Grand Rapids Museum of Art, Columbus Museum of Art, The Museum of Design, Atlanta, and most recently the Havana Biennial in Matanzas, Cuba. She has been awarded grants from the Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC) and the Ohio Arts Council. She also traveled to Dresden, Germany for the GCAC International Exchange Program. She is represented by Hammond Harkins Galleries.

"The Dresden residency allowed me uninterrupted time to concentrate on my medium and process. It allowed me to push my work further, and begin introducing color into my work. It was also my first time abroad and made me realize the importance of travel on not only my work, but on myself."
