Prince Shakur he/him

Prince Shakur is a Cleveland born and Columbus cultivated artist across mediums, organizer, and media maker. Since 2017, his incisive journalism and essays on politics, policing, and queer culture have appeared in Teen Vogue, VICE, AfroPunk, and beyond. His activism ranges from bringing the Black Lives Matter Movement to Ohio University campus, labor organizing in Seattle, struggles against climate change and colonialism with movements, like Standing Rock, and his pivotal organizing with Black Queer and Intersectional Collective in Columbus, OH. His video-work ranges from travel videos centered on the Black experience abroad, debunking the writing life, and a recent short film shot in Columbus, OH that he penned and acted in. His debut memoir, WHEN THEY TELL YOU TO BE GOOD, charts his political coming of age from queer kid in a Jamaican family to anarchist, lover, and traveler in the footsteps of James Baldwin.
