Columbus, Ohio – The Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC) encourages and supports cultural development in the Columbus area and recognizes the important contribution of artists and arts organizations to the creative landscape of the Columbus community. In this capacity, GCAC has launched three new grants programs that support local performing artists and community arts and cultural projects that use the arts as a vehicle for economic development and growth.
The new grant programs are detailed below:
Community Impact Grant Program
This grant program funds projects by arts and culture organizations and/or non-traditional arts and culture organizations that will affect the economic development and growth in targeted geographical areas. Projects should foster and include collaboration, innovation and accessibility and should promote cultural tourism. The program will focus support to the following communities: Franklinton, King-Lincoln, Olde Towne East, Southside and Weinland Park. Applications with accompanying support materials are due by 5 p.m. on each of the dates: January 15; April 15; July 15; October 15.
Performing Artist Fee Subsidy Program
This grant program supports non-profit, non-arts/culture organizations wishing to engage Columbus-based performing artists to enhance their event, enrich their programming or impact the work environment in a meaningful way. Organizations may request funding up to $2,500 for 50% of the artist’s fees budgeted, and a dollar for dollar match is required. Applications with accompanying support materials are due by 5 p.m. on the first Monday of every month.
Performing Artist Travel Grant Program
This program funds travel expenses for individual performing artists residing in Columbus and/or Franklin County to travel outside of Columbus for performance opportunities. The grant awards up to $1,500 for travel-related costs such as airfare, lodging and meals. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on the first Monday of each month.
