Opportunities for Artists

Sign up for our OPPArt Newsletter to keep up-to-date on the latest news.

The Greater Columbus Arts Council aims to connect individual artists and arts organizations to opportunities and to each other. One way we do this is by populating this section of our website with information on various internal and external opportunities. These opportunities are shared broadly through our monthly OPPArt newsletter. In addition, we offer free professional development workshop series, round-table discussions, and social events.

To submit a Call for Artists, Job Posting, Grant Opportunity, or Workshop, click here to submit details for approval. Note that posting may take up to 1 week; submitting well in advance of the deadline is recommended. Only art-related opportunities will be accepted.

Name: Call for Artists Proposals Parklet
Organization: The Sisters of Saint Joseph Neighborhood Network
Description: The Sisters of Saint Joseph Neighborhood Network seeks to commission a professional visual artist, or artist team, to design and fabricate a parklet, or pop up park, atop a 19 foot long utility trailer. Defined by the National Association of City Transportation Officials as: public seating platforms that convert curbside parking spaces into vibrant community spaces
(NACTO.org), the SSJNN parklet will provide a new and exciting avenue for the organization to engage with the community by serving as a mobile meeting space. The design of the parklet should encourage interaction and create a welcoming environment that promotes intimate conversation between SSJNN staff and neighbors. The final design may allow for the parklet’s amenities to spill outside of the trailers boundaries, onto neighboring sidewalks and pavement. The SSJ Neighborhood Network will assist the chosen artist(s) in securing a space in which the construction, fabrication, and assembly of the parklet will be completed. The parklet will be finalized by March 15, 2022.

Name: Call for Artist Proposals Three Sisters Park Signage
Organization: The Sisters of Saint Joseph Neighborhood Network
Description: The Sisters of Saint Joseph Neighborhood Network seeks to commission a professional visual artist, or artist team, to design, fabricate, and install a sign for Three Sisters Park (3SP) located in the 400 block of West 19th Street in Erie, PA. When the SSJ Neighborhood Network acquired the property, the 0.4 acre site still held a collapsed building, rusting piles
of discarded track, used drug paraphernalia, scrap metal and many tons of illegally dumped refuse. Neighborhood children lacking alternative natural recreational space regularly found their way through derelict fences and extreme plant overgrowth, to the site’s interior to play. Since acquiring the property, the SSJNN has transformed the site into Three Sisters Park: a
safe and beautiful urban park for the community to enjoy. An identifying sign is one of the few final touches that the park needs.
