in Press Releases January 24, 2018 1 min read

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Greater Columbus Arts Council is proud to partner for a second year with Lamar Outdoor and the Art Makes Columbus/Columbus Makes Art campaign to present the ArtPop street gallery. ArtPop Cbus will shine the spotlight on Columbus’ talented artists by placing their work on available billboards throughout Franklin County. Columbus artists working in all media are invited to submit artwork for consideration and possible display on one of five available billboards circulating the region in 2018.

ArtPop is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that works with local arts councils and media companies across the country to promote artists, give them a voice, create public street galleries and energize residents’ commutes. Currently, ArtPop is on the streets of 14 cities nationwide. Art + Public Outdoor Project = ArtPop. For more information, visit ArtPopStreetGallery.com.

Five pieces of artwork will be chosen by the ArtPop Cbus selection committee comprised of representatives from the Arts Council, ArtPop, Lamar and two at-large community members. Selected artwork will be displayed on billboards owned and managed by Lamar Outdoor throughout the Franklin County area for up to one year.

ArtPop Cbus is open to artists 18 years of age or older living in Franklin County. The submitted artwork must have been created within the past three years. While not a requirement, artists working in any medium are invited to reflect their version of honoring the Harlem Renaissance movement, a special community-wide collaborative project in Columbus in 2018. For more information about the Harlem Renaissance project, visit columbusmakesart.com/harlemrenaissance.

The call for submissions opens Jan. 25 and submissions are due by Feb. 25 at 11:59 p.m. Winners will be announced by Mar. 9. Full details and submission forms are available at columbusmakesart.com/artpop.
