Columbus, Ohio – The Neighborhood Design Center (NDC) is commissioning a sculptural artwork that celebrates the Livingston Avenue Corridor as the original streetcar line in Columbus.
NDC, with administrative support from the Greater Columbus Arts Council, is currently accepting applications from professional visual artists living or working in Ohio who have successfully completed installations with budgets of at least $5,000. The application deadline is Friday, May 15, at 5 p.m.
The final sculpture will be part of the Streetcar District Art Series, and will be placed in the center of Livingstone Park. The first commissioned piece in the series was created by Columbus artist John Sunami and installed at the corner of Livingston Avenue and Nelson Road.
A seven member art advisory panel will review submissions and select up to three finalists to create original design proposals. The panel will consist of individuals from the Livingston Avenue neighborhoods, a member of the Columbus Art Commission and unaffiliated artists/art professionals. Each of artist finalists will receive a $750 art proposal fee payable in two installments.
The total art budget for this piece is $50,000, all inclusive. The budget includes all costs associated with project including, but not limited to: a ten-percent project contingency fee, artist’s fees, travel, materials, permits, insurance, fabrication and installation costs, transportation, and documentation of the work.
