Art Spot Features 13 Artist-Designed Window Installations Tackling the Subject of Climate Change

in Press Releases December 14, 2022 2 min read

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC) presents Art Spot, a collection of 13 window installations designed by Columbus-area artists, on display around downtown Columbus and the Short North Arts District from mid-December through June 2023.

As part of GCAC’s ongoing mission to connect art with the people and places of Columbus, Art Spot is designed to highlight the city’s artists while promoting engagement between residents, visitors and downtown businesses. The installations will be free for everyone to view and enjoy at any time. Anyone can download the free Columbus ArtWalks app to get a full tour of all 13 pieces.

“We’re excited to showcase our city’s artists and create new public art for everyone downtown,” said Jami Goldstein, GCAC’s vice president of marketing, communications and events. “These installations should spark some interesting conversations and brighten downtown, especially ahead of big conventions in 2023 like the Professional Convention Management Association Convening Leaders in January and the U.S. Conference of Mayors convention in early June.”

Artists were invited to submit designs around the theme of Climate Conversations; the installations are intended to encourage conversations about the climate crisis and the role of art in science communication. Selected artists received a stipend and a materials fee to create the work. Project directors for Art Spot are Columbus-based artists Amy Leibrand and Stephanie Rond.
