COLUMBUS, Ohio—Join the Greater Columbus Arts Council and enjoy a variety of music and poetry performances at the Columbus Arts Festival presented by Time Warner Cable, June 4, 5 and 6 in downtown’s Discovery District.

Sixteen bands will take the main stage located in the Columbus State Community College parking lot during the three-day Festival. Also back this year are poetry performances, now taking place at the Ohio MagazineWord is Art Stage, located in the grassy area in front of the Loann Crane Center. The Word is Art Stage will feature 22 artists performing their original work. The Topiary Garden at East Town and Washington avenues will host a children’s theater performance of The Wind in the Willows.

This year’s Main Stage will feature live performances throughout the day by popular local acts including Lone RavenMiss Molly and Calendar for Preston. Other music in this year’s lineup includes everything from the Brazilian-infused jazz vocals of Maggie Green to retro oldies players The Randys.

The Ohio Magazine Word is Art Stage will feature local and regional poets including Gina Blaurock, Dianne Borsenik and Joanna Schroeder. Saturday evening the Writer’s Block Poetry forum will host an interactive Poetry Slam. Ten poets will perform for and be judged by audience members. Students from TRANSIT ARTS and the Greater Columbus Arts Council’s Art in the House program and Thurber House will also present their poetry during the weekend.

The west side of the Topiary Garden in Old Deaf School Park will be the backdrop for children’s theater performances of The Wind in the Willows. Local children from different areas of the city will perform the play throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday. The Topiary Garden is a work of art itself recreating Georges Seurat’s famous post impressionist painting, A Sunday On The Island Of La Grande Jatte in topiaries.

Festival Hours: 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fri., Jun. 4 and Sat., Jun. 5 and 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sun., Jun. 6.
