GCAC AND OHIODANCE HOST DANCE CAREER DEVELOPMENT SESSION

Columbus, Ohio – The Greater Columbus Arts Council in partnership with OhioDance will host a panel discussion geared toward pre-professional dancers transitioning to professional/college-level dance programs from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 12 at BalletMet, 322 Mt. Vernon Avenue, Columbus.

Discussion will center on portfolio development, professional career vs. college level dance programs, in and outs, what to prepare for, alternates and resources. Attendees will receive valuable insight from the university and professional dance world. This will be an open format session. Families are welcome.

BOOST (Broadening Organization’s Overall Skills and Technology) is the new name of GCAC’s longstanding technical assistance program. Designed to help small arts organizations increase capacity, strengthen governance and leadership as well as provide staff members with professional development, the program accepts monthly requests. This workshop is geared toward new and emerging arts organizations. Join GCAC Grants & Services Manager Ruby Classen in this informative session about GCAC’s application process. There will be opportunities for one-on-one consultation in an informal environment. Participants are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch, ideas and questions.

Selling Your Work at Arts and Crafts Events
Presented by Emily-Kitturah Westenhouser (Crafty Cotillion)

In today’s arts and crafts market, there are many places for artists to display and sell their work. A rise in independent or indie arts and crafts fairs began several years ago that has brought even more opportunities along with a greater effort to educate consumers on the importance of supporting local talent. This session is geared toward artists and crafters getting started selling their work. Emily Westenhouser of the Columbus Crafty Cotillion will talk about her experiences running her craft business, Umbrella Girl Productions, over the past eight years while focusing on the in’s and out’s of starting a business selling art or crafts.
