Greater Columbus Arts Council Announces 3rd Quarter Project Support and BOOST Grants

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Greater Columbus Arts Council Board of Trustees today approved eight grants totaling $54,017 for the third round of Project Support grants and August BOOST grants. These projects will serve more than 16,000 audience members and support nearly 250 artists.

Performing Arts and Film/Video were among the primary projects to receive grants. Assistance from GCAC will enable Columbus residents and visitors to enjoy the 59th Annual Columbus International Film + Video Festival, November 16 – 20. In addition, the Short North Stage will preview the beginnings of their renovation of the Garden Theatre with a concert production of Follies. Senior Repertory of Ohio will present their 2011-2012 season featuring Chess in concert and Death of a Salesman. Columbus Civic Theatre will bring to the stage an original production of A Christmas Carol.

Project Support: GCAC funded seven Project Support applications. Project Support grants provide funding for the numerous short-term cultural activities that give Columbus its vitality. GCAC awarded $49,017 in Project Support grants to the following seven organizations and projects:

BOOST: BOOST is a capacity-building program supporting the governance, leadership, technology and professional development needs of not-for-profit arts organizations. Applicants are encouraged to make a long-term commitment to continuous improvement and to develop skills that result in benefits not only to the organization, but to the larger arts community. Applications are accepted monthly and are funded on a first come, first served basis.

There is one more deadline for project support in 2011— October 17.

Deadlines for 2012 are January 17, April 16, July 16 and October 15.
