Greater Columbus Arts Council Awards First Cycle Project Support and February Artists in the Community Grants

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Twenty-one grants totaling $231,318 were approved by the Greater Columbus Arts Council Board of Trustees for 2019 Project Support: Cycle 1 grants. Additionally, the Board approved 112 Artists in the Community grants totaling $96,568 in February.

Project Support: Project Support grants provide funding for a broad range of arts and cultural projects, events and programs. The Arts Council awarded $231,318 in Project Support grants to the following organizations and projects.

The Project Support awardees span six artistic disciplines and include three first-time applicants. Through the Project Support program, support is provided to a variety of diverse art experiences for our community, including festivals such as the 25th anniversary of the Asian Festival (May 25-26), Summer Jam West in the Hilltop neighborhood (July 13) and GospelFest (July 27-28). New applicant Story Foundation will present a series of readings and discussions by local and national authors (multiple dates). The Columbus Black International Film Festival will enter its third year with multiple screenings, panels, workshops and events (Aug. 22-25).

There are two remaining deadlines for Project Support grants in 2019: Apr. 15 and Aug. 15.

Artists in the Community: Support for artists is provided through Resource, Professional Development and Marketing Support grants. Funds are provided to assist artists with the creation of new art, advancement of their skills and promotion of their work to the public. Artists may apply as an individual or as part of a band/ensemble. These grant programs demonstrate a commitment to individual artists and the important role artists play in the creative landscape and economic vitality in Columbus.

Applications are accepted every other month and are funded on a first-come, first-served basis, until program funds are exhausted. All programs are open and accepting applications for the next deadline on Apr. 1.
