COLUMBUS, Ohio—The Greater Columbus Arts Council board of trustees approved 13 grants totaling $158,141 for the first round of Project Support grants in 2015. Additionally the Board approved one Community Impact grant totaling $3,580, five BOOST grants totaling $46,900 and 15 Artists in the Community grants totaling $10,597. Various performances and festivals will occur throughout Columbus featuring organizations such as The Asian Festival at the Franklin Park Conservatory May 23-24, Capriccio Vocal Ensemble presenting the seldom heard Duke Ellington’s “Sacred Songs” at Beechwold Christian Church June 13-14 and the free arts and music festival Summer Jam Westgate, held at Westgate Park on July 11. PROJECT SUPPORT Project Support grants provide funding for the numerous short-term cultural activities that give Columbus its vitality. This quarterly cycle, grantees will serve more than 268,000 audience members and will support approximately 1,041 artists.
