Greater Columbus Arts Council Awards Fourth Quarter Project Support and Community Impact Grants

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Greater Columbus Arts Council board of trustees approved five grants totaling $47,084 for the fourth and final round of Project Support grants in 2015. Additionally the board approved three Community Impact grants totaling $73,320. In 2015 Project Support grants funded 48 organizations for a total of $486,737.

The program supports a wide variety of performances and events throughout Columbus, such as the Hiphop Studies Working Group, whose 2016 Hiphop Literacies Conference who will reflect on the local histories, cultures and concerns of Hiphop’s worldwide practitioners. Likewise, The Game Show at the EASE Gallery will challenge artists and writers to organize themselves into groups of three or more, establish rules of play and make a game out of collaborative art making.

Project Support: Project Support grants provide funding for the numerous short-term cultural activities that give Columbus its vitality. This quarterly cycle, grantees will serve nearly 4,000 audience members and will support approximately 200 artists. The Arts Council awarded $47,084 in Project Support grants to the following organizations and projects:

There are four deadlines for Project Support in 2016: Jan. 15, April 15, July 15 and Oct. 15.

Community Impact: Community Impact grants provide funding to support long-term, sustainable projects or activity by arts and culture organizations and/or non-traditional arts and culture organizations that are intended to affect the economic development and growth in the targeted geographic areas.
