COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Greater Columbus Arts Council board of trustees approved 22 grants totaling $196,283 for second quarter Project Support grants in 2016. Additionally the board approved 26 Artists in the Community grants totaling $12,644.
Various performances will occur throughout Columbus such as the Vivo Chamber Music Festival held Sept. 2-4 and hosted in nontraditional venues like the Columbus Museum of Art, Hot Chicken Takeover and throughout the Short North during the September Gallery Hop. Six String Concerts will introduce emerging acoustic artists through monthly concerts in intimate, alcohol-free environments and Global Gallery will continue to celebrate Columbus’ cultural diversity through its art exhibits, Global Wednesdays’ performances and Women Crafting Change. Artists in the Community: Support for artists is provided through Supply Grants, Professional Development Assistance, Research and Development, Film Finishing Funds and Performing Artist Travel Grants. These support programs give artists in the community the opportunity to enhance their skills and create work that helps drive the vibrancy of the arts in Columbus and Franklin County. Applications are accepted monthly and are funded on a first come, first served basis.
