Greater Columbus Arts Council Awards Third Quarter Project Support, BOOST and Artists in the Community Grants

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Greater Columbus Arts Council Board of Trustees today approved six grants totaling $54,606 for the third round of Project Support grants in 2014. These projects will support approximately 321 artists and will serve more than one million audience members.

Various performances of theatre and music will occur throughout Columbus featuring organizations such as State of The Arts Productions presenting its 2015 Theater Season which includes productions like Caroline or Change, February 13-20, 2015 and House of Blue Leaves, April 24 – May 2. The Fuse Factory Electronic and Digital Arts Lab will present Frequency Fridays, a monthly performance and exhibition series featuring visual and sound artists, electronic and experimental musicians, and technologists. Frequency Fridays will be presented at itlookslikeitsopen located at 13 E. Tulane Ave. in Columbus.
Project Support: Project Support grants provide funding for the numerous short-term cultural activities that give Columbus its vitality. The Arts Council awarded $54,606 in Project Support grants to the following organizations and projects:

BOOST: BOOST (Broadening Organization’s Overall Skills and Technology) is a capacity-building program supporting the governance, leadership, technology and professional development needs of not-for-profit arts organizations. Applicants are encouraged to make a long-term commitment to continuous improvement and to develop skills that result in benefits not only to the organization, but to the larger arts community. Applications are accepted monthly and are funded on a first come, first served basis.

Because of overwhelming participation this year in the BOOST program, the Arts Council has closed the program for the remainder of 2014. The program will reopen in January 2015.

ARTISTS IN THE COMMUNITY: Support for artists is provided through Professional Development Assistance, Supply Grants and Performing Artist Travel Grants.  These support programs give artists in the community the opportunity to enhance their skills and create work that helps drive the vibrancy of the arts in Columbus and Franklin County. Applications are accepted monthly and are funded on a first come, first served basis.  Third quarter Artists in the Community grants totaled $41,797.68.

Because of overwhelming participation this year in the AITC programs, the Arts Council has closed the programs for the remainder of 2014. The programs will reopen in January 2015.
