in Press Releases June 22, 2022 1 min read

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Greater Columbus Arts Council (Arts Council) is pleased to announce a call for entries for Art Spot, a series of 10 themed public art window installations that will be placed in downtown Columbus and adjacent neighborhoods. The installations will encourage the community to explore the various stops as a free walking tour on the Columbus Artwalks app.

Applications from interested artists are due July 23, 2022. The installations will go on display in mid-December of this year and remain in place through the end of June 2023.

The theme for Art Spot 2023 is Climate Conversations. Artists applying should develop work that sparks public conversation about the climate crisis and the role of art in science communication. Installations may be inspired by any aspect of climate change, including but not limited to the impact of the climate crisis; human causes of climate change; or actions, tools, or solutions for mitigation, adaptation or resilience.

The project will be led by two Columbus-based artists, Amy Leibrand and Stephanie Rond. Installations will be judged by a panel of jurors with representation from the Arts Council, Columbus Downtown Development Corporation (CDDC), Capital Crossroads/Discovery Special Improvements Districts (SIDs) and the Short North Arts District.

Applications are open to all working artists 18 and over residing in Franklin County and surrounding counties (Delaware, Licking, Fairfield, Pickaway, Madison and Union). All proposals must be original and take inspiration from the theme. Selected artists will be awarded a $3,000 stipend and $1,200 for material expenses (total of $4,200).
