COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC) welcomed two new staff members in late July—Khaila Carr as Grants and Community Engagement associate and Matt “Calvin” Gruszecki as director of data and analytics, a new position at GCAC.

Khaila Carr (she/her/hers) earned a BFA in illustration and fine arts from Columbus College of Art & Design in 2018. While at CCAD, she served as the secretary of Student Government, was a member of the Spitball Comics Anthology 3 and 4, participated in the honors program and worked as an illustrator/animator for CCAD’s student agency. Carr pursues her arts career through freelancing and creating murals, designs, illustrations and animations for clients both local and nationwide. Her art is a reflection of fantastical aesthetics, cathartic expression and an exploration of her identity as a queer, Filipino-American woman.

Prior to joining the GCAC team, Matt Gruszecki (he/him/his), who goes by Calvin, worked 18 years for a large telecommunications company in various capacities, from customer service, data analytics and reporting to senior application support and development. He also worked for a regional bank in IT as an analyst, product owner and information architect. Gruszecki  has served on a Columbus Arts Festival Coordinating Committee (most recently on the operations team) for more than 20 years. Gruszecki and his partner are part owners of Club Diversity in the Brewery District.
