COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Greater Columbus Arts Council is seeking central Ohio artists to design and create large-scale indoor murals to be commissioned by the Kroger Company and installed at its new Reynoldsburg, Ohio store at 6580 E. Main St.

The Kroger Art Project hires artists to create large-scale murals in new or recently renovated stores around central Ohio. Kroger has previously commissioned central Ohio artists to create murals for stores in Columbus, Grove City, Lancaster, Marysville and Newark.

This commission is open to all central Ohio artists with priority given to artists living in or having a connection to the Reynoldsburg community. The mural is intended to create an uplifting experience at the new stores. The objective is to create a space that encourages community gathering and celebrates the spirit of the neighborhood.

There is no application fee to enter. To be considered, artists will need to submit three (3) photographic/scanned examples of their work, a bio/resume (one page maximum) and a short narrative on the artist’s connection to Reynoldsburg.

A small group of candidates will be selected to submit specific proposals through an additional RFP process. Artists selected for the RFP process each will receive an honorarium of $300 for their efforts and materials used to create the proposed design. The final selected artist will receive a $10,000 commission for the mural.

The application opens on May 29 and must be submitted through gcac.smartsimple.com.

Submissions for the mural are due by June 12 at 5 p.m.
