COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Greater Columbus Arts Council’s OPPArt (Opportunities for Artists) series, in partnership with the Alliance for Artists Communities, is presenting a workshop exploring artist residency opportunities. Be Our Guest, Finding Creative Time + Space will take place on Thursday, May 12, 2011 from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Jazz Academy, 4th Floor Conference Room, on 769 East Long Street. This event is free and open to the public.

Be Our Guest, Finding Creative Time + Space will explore a wide range of residency opportunities available to artists at any stage of their career. The Alliance of Artists Communities is a national association that assists artists in finding the right residency programs based on their discipline, available time and resources. The Alliance represents more than 500 residency programs in the U.S. and more than 1,000 worldwide.

Artists will gain valuable insight into the diverse residency programs available, find out the best way to apply for the programs and how to make the most of a residency experience.

OPPArt is a series aimed toward helping individual artists connect with each other and further themselves and their work. The series includes professional development workshops, roundtable discussions, social events and more. Most events are free, and all events are open to artists of any genre or level.
