ARTIST STATEMENT
This painting reminds me of a dream like state. My life in recovery from alcoholism has had its ups and downs but I get to experience life as it is. I will always be grateful to those that knew recovery before me and showed me the way. They offered me hope to a life that has become an undreamed of dream come true.
ARTIST BIO
DAVID LEONARD is a self taught artist based in Columbus , Ohio . Most of David’s work incorporates found objects that would otherwise be thrown in the trash . The idea of creating something new from something old and broken has a dual meaning on multiple levels . Creating works of art has become a positive outlet in his recovery from alcoholism. Personal symbolism plays a large part in his work. “Any creative endeavor that I participate in will always remind me of my new life versus my old life .”
