Renewal: Works About Hope

Paula Long

ARTIST STATEMENT

The grey background, like winter into spring, fades into shades of warm yellow and blue. Matilde’s expression is both dark and defiant and softly poignant. She reflects the dark wildness of spring and its descent into soft new growth. Fleabane begins to bloom in spring. Like Matilde, it is a sturdy indestructible wildflower with delicate flowers.
